Bilbao – Guggenheim

Posted: April 30, 2013 in Spain 2013

Don’t even know where to start today… We had breakfast in the hotel and met up with the Oudejans. Walked through Bilbao and went to the Guggenheim museum.

The Guggenheim is full of modern artwork. There is a strong overarching emphasis on the response by the art community to the changing world of the early 1900s. The world became a very ugly place and the art reflected it. The museum helps give meaning to the art work of the 1930’s – 1950’s and explains why Picasso was the hero of the day.
