Short blog entry tonight for an incredible day. Departed Augsburg and toured Dinkelsbürg, a medieval city. Drove a bit away to a small community and had lunch at a small town restaurant owned by a family Udo knows. It was awesome. Went to Rothenburg odt and one of us got lost and delayed our departure – OK, it was me. Frankfurt hostel held dinner for us and we have checked back into the Frankfurt hostel safely. Took the team to Karaoke tonight. A very busy and long day. Oh, we spent a fair amount of time in a medieval torture museum – cool.

A full day of sightseeing. We arranged a group tour at Neuschwanstein Castle which turned out great. On the way there, we stopped at St. Colomen’s – will have to research that later. Beautiful small church in the countryside built in the 1600s.

Castle tour was awesome. Spent a lot of time there on a guided tour. Then on to Munich where we toured Marienplatz, dinner and beverages at Hofbräuhaus. We took an interesting walk from there to the National Museum using my GPS against Bill’s wishes. Bill might have been right. But we got to see the surfing in the English Garden and met the bus on time.

On the way out, we drove by the Olympic Village in Munich from the 1972 Olympics.

Tomorrow we check out of our Augsburg hostel and take the Romantic Road back to Frankfurt. We have lunch planned in Dinkelsburg and a tour in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Should be back in the Frankfurt hostel for dinner.

Girls spent A LOT OF TIME planning their attire for Wednesday’s USA vs France game.

Some of today’s pictures… Please enjoy the picture of Cheryl and her approach to dealing with me all these 24+ years. And we will need a picture party when we get home. Amil and others have taken thousand of great pictures.

USA! USA! USA! What a crazy day! I’m struggling to remember every thing we did

Started the day with a few of us attending Mass at St. Mary’s Dom (cathedral). Enjoyed this a lot- about 1/4 in Latin and 3/4 in German. Very traditional service in a massive gothic cathedral.

We headed off to the Augsburg Stadium and watched Australia vs Sweden. Nearly all of the team dressed in Australia colors to protest the Sweden win over the USA. Amazing seats, great conversations trying to speak German on the stands and at the concessions. Amazing afternoon. Sweden deserved to win – very few mistakes.

We got back to the Augsburg hostel, had an early dinner (it was very good), and went off to this bar that has good people and a nice big screen. Americans took over the place and it was wild. Chanting and screaming. And some how, the USA pulled it out! Amazing!

Took a walk through downtown Augsburg – kind of a small cosmopolitan area with a lot of diversity. Lots of people stopped us to congratulate us.

Did I mention we have tickets to the USA vs France game Wednesday?

And a quick summary schedule for our remaining trip subject to change and adjustment:

Mon: Tour Bavaria – Fussen and Munich
Tue: Romantic Road back to Frankfurt
Wed: World Cup Day
Thur: Harry Potter and play match against Villa Astoria.

Today, we sampled life. We had tears of joy, old familiar traditions in an entirely new setting and experiences that are life changing and will forever alter our view of the world for the better.

Finally, pics…
